Lauri Sarparanta – new EDI consultant
Lauri is a logistics engineer who first came into…
Mohammed is a recent graduate who enjoys both drama films and Java. At Opter, he is working in teams with more experienced developers, to gain experience and further refine his programming skills.
His Java skills have already been put to good use and Mohammed plans to broaden his range of technical expertise so that he can contribute in other areas as well.
Hi Mohammed, is there anything that has surprised you about your new job?
“What surprised me the most is how much code is used to build Opter. At KTH, we of course wrote quite a lot of code for some projects, but at work it’s at a completely different level. But learning how it all fits together and how to maintain the code is a really nice part of the job.”
What do you like doing in your spare time?
“I like spending time with my family and friends. This includes going out for nice meals, or going to the gym with one or two friends. I also like watching a good TV series or movie. My favorite type is definitely drama, but lately I’ve been watching a lot of fantasy series as well.”
Do you have any hidden talents?
“I’m pretty good at sitting in one place and watching an entire season of a TV show in a day. That may not sound like a talent, but I reckon it’s quite impressive!”
Is this ability to sit still something you have use of at work?
“Yes, I think so. As programming requires spending time working on various problems that may arise, it is important to be able to sit in one place for a while. And of course if I get tired of sitting, I can always stand up for a bit. That’s not as enjoyable as sitting, but it’s good for one’s posture and body.”
Why do you think other people should apply to join Opter?
“Because Opter is the leading transport planning software company in the Nordic region and is a good, stable company at which to work. It provides the opportunity to work with interesting specialists and friendly colleagues who are very skilled at developing. It’s a great team in which everyone contributes something, and we really feel that the work we do at Opter makes a difference both for our customers and for their customers.”
Would you also like to work at Opter? We are currently looking for skilled .NET developers who want to be involved in developing the Nordic region’s leading transport planning software. More information is available at Come and join us.
